Secret Society For Women | Interview On ‘The View’ With Lisa Ling.

For Lisa Ling to create a ‘Secret Society for Women’ but then to publish it world-wide just doesn’t ring true to many women. The whole idea is to create a safe space for women to speak to one another about their deepest wishes, desires, and dreams among other things is at the heart of the idea, however, anyone who has a computer can read and engage without proving that they are a woman.
This is a part of the problem with so-called ‘secret society’ privacy issues. Most secret societies are just that..secret. If they were not, then the mystique would be missing, and so would the membership. The biggest draw to be in a secret society is the anonymity and fraternity, or in this case, sorority of the hidden club.
The other draw is the exclusivity of such a club, but this is not the case here, as it seem to be just another blog, and even though it’s tenets are altruistic and is a helpful tool for those women who need to connect and commiserate with one another about different issues that they deal with, such as sexism, violence and intolerance towards women, and the plethora of other issues that women have to face on a daily basis, the notion of a ‘secret society’ for women is just another way to make a buck online.

Lisa Ling’s revelation that she herself suffered a devastating miscarriage about six months ago is a terrible thing, and should be talked about. A self-proclaimed ambitious and competent person, the 32-year-old journalist says the news left her feeling like an “incredible failure.”
Her tenets for the ‘Secret Society for Women’ are as follows:
By Women …. For Women.  A place where we can divulge our deepest secrets about how we look, what we regret, who we fantasize about, what we aspire to do, or whatever else we’ve been keeping inside of us.”
Many women are just hoping this will be a helpful and provocative site, but to call it secret is just not being honest with the world, say her detractors.
